Inspiration:

This light-reactive crab sculpture, inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants' Mr. Krabs, merges old-school craftsmanship with new technology. The body of the crab, fabricated with aluminum and TIG-welded, forms a robust base for the LED lights integrated into it. Its claws, built from screws and heat-welded, add an eccentric and playful touch to its design. The visible hardware and raw, unpainted aluminum create a striking, visual contrast.
But the real magic with this sculpture is in its interaction with the environment. Using a sonar sensor, this crab is able to detect any movement. If someone approaches the crab, its LED lights cycle through a bright and happy rainbow-mimicking happiness and welcome. In contrast, while alone, the lights go into a solitary shade of lonely blue to depict sadness. It is the dynamic between this sculpture and its viewer that allows for such an interactive experience.
